#SELFLOVEFEB DAY 14: SELF-LOVE BATH RITUAL

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY BELOVED!

Usually when you ask women about their self care practices bubble baths are always in the top 3. Clearly we love luxuriating in the bath. I thought today would be a perfect day to indulge in this popular activity as an act of self love.

This particular ritual comes from The Book of Sacred Baths: 52 Bathing Rituals to Revitalize Your Spirit, by Paulette Kouffman Sherman

Ingredients:

  • 3 drops frankincense oil – increases self esteem
  • 4 drops rose absolute oil – the divine flower of love
  • Pink quartz crystal – opens your heart to love, including self love
  • Magenta candle – the colour of archangel Jophiel*
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Rosehips tea – brings out unconditional love for yourself and others
  • Your brag book

*You can skip the angelic stuff it you don’t resonate with it. You can replace archangel Jophiel with maybe a goddess of love such as Oshun or Aphrodite or any being who you feel can support you in loving yourself more, like your departed grandmother who always made you feel like a million bucks.

Carve out some time when you won’t be disturbed for an hour and set up the scene. Start with a clean bathroom. Light the candle and call in archangel Jophiel (or equivalent). Archangel Jophiel is the angel of beauty and beautiful thoughts. She can help you think beautiful thoughts and see yourself as divine. Ask her to reveal your divine splendour to you.

As you lie in your wonderfully fragrant bath, focus on the candle flame and breathe in the warmth. Slow, deep, belly breathe. Recall all the wonderful things about yourself that you and others appreciate. You can also refer to your brag book. Remind yourself of all the good you do in the world and how important it is for you to share it, first with yourself, and then with others.

Make a personal commitment to speak to yourself only with words of love, for the duration of the bath. Ask archangel Jophiel to help. Intend to cease all self-criticism and only focus on your divine magnificence.

Spend the rest of your time in the bath (at least 25 minutes) practicing, speaking and thinking loving thoughts about yourself, and visualising all the good you deserve. When you are done ask archangel Jophiel to seal in this good energy and self-love into your cells and heart, so they’re overflowing. Ask that any old feelings of self-loathing, failure, shame, anger, or disappointment be washed down the drain so all that’s left is self-love and approval.

Take a moment now and ask if there is any guidance regarding this. Archangel Jophiel may tell you that there’s nothing to forgive and you did the best you could. She may tell you to let the past go or direct you in some other way. Embrace the message. Then thank archangel Jophiel for her assistance and say, “It is so,” before blowing out the candle.

Afterward, turn on the bathroom light and look in the mirror (and once every day, thereafter thereafter) and say, “I love you.” Really look yourself in the eyes and feel it.

You can also mix the same essential with olive oil (or another carrier oil) to anoint your heart chakra as a reminder of your commitment to love yourself. This will help you bring back this feeling when you’re not in your bath.

When you are done, make yourself a cup of rosehips tea. Go into your place of relaxation and sip it while you write about any insights in your journal.

If you have a Valentine’s day date, imagine starting with this bath. You won’t care how the day plays out after loving up on yourself like this!
