#SELFLOVEFEB DAY 13: YOU FIRST – TIME

Three of our most valuable resources are time, money and health. We are going to address all three on our self love journey, starting with time.

Love is a doing word. We know that we are loved based not on what people say, but on what they do. The same applies to self love. The message that you love and value yourself lands based not on what you say but what you do for yourself.

Time is a valuable resource, which we are always giving away to others – kids, bosses, partners, businesses, studies, chores…and we get whatever remaining scraps. Often, by then we are so exhausted that all we spend that time on is sleeping or vegging out on the couch.

How do you start your day?

If you don’t already, start your day by gifting yourself with time. You may have to start waking up early. For instance, I wake up earlier than the kids. In this time I do some breathwork, then I do my prayers and visualisation, then I finish off with yoga sun salutations/stretch exercises. A good 60 – 90 minutes at the beginning of my day is dedicated to what nurtures me.

When I don’t start my day with myself, I often feel depleted and irritable. I am also more welcoming of others’ demand on my time, if I have started with myself, i.e. I am less bitchier if I spend time on me first.
