You have this really cool thing called a body. You know why? Because it has senses. You have the ability to bury your nose in a bouquet of your favourite flowers and deeply inhale the fragrance, eat a deliciously decadent dessert, feel a loving stroke against your skin, hear the laughter of a loved one, and be moved by the sight of a majestic sunset.
If it were not for your sensory capability life would be pointless, really.
A medium once told me that one of the reasons souls get trapped on the earth plane –(meaning ghosts) – is due to addiction. They miss the addictions of the flesh and hang around people who consume whatever substance or indulge in whatever activity the ghost is attracted to, hoping to have that sensory experience vicariously through the human.
I know this is a creepy detour, but I want to make the point that our sense are damn precious.
Give your self some love by honouring your sense. Pick a sense per day for the next 5 days. Each day lead with that sense and indulge it as much as possible. For example, hearing:
- As soon as you wake up notice all the sounds you can hear, near and far.
- Play music you find pleasant.
- Don’t indulge in listening to negativity – avoid the news, the office gossip, and your cranky complaining neighbour.
- Pay attention to the sound of your laughter, your voice, the sounds you make when you make love, your sneeze…
Just celebrate each sense and appreciate how you experience yourself through it.
Oh, and if you come up with novel ways to indulge your senses, let me know.
